Who are our alumni?

Alumni are Vietnamese people who studied, researched, or trained at Australian education institutions, including long and short course trainings, online or face to face. Alumni may be scholarship recipients or self-funded.

Vietnamese alumni of Australian education in Vietnam have a wealth of knowledge, expertise and influence. They are making valuable contributions to Vietnam’s development and strengthening linkages between Vietnam and Australia.

Australian Alumni in Vietnam are defined as:

Anyone who has studied, researched or trained at an Australian education institution in Australia, Vietnam, a third country or online, including full-fee paying, scholarship recipients, and short course or professional training participants.

The Vietnam Strategy
has four objectives:

Promote Australian excellence as a provider of high quality, innovative education, training and research

Build a network of active leaders and advocates of mutually beneficial bilateral interests and viewpoints

Support Australian foreign policy, public diplomacy, development cooperation, business and trade initiatives

Improve coordination and efficiency across all partners in relation to alumni engagement in Vietnam

In December 2016, Aus4Skills organised the launch of the Vietnam Strategy in Hanoi and supported a soft launch in HCM City in January 2017. In January 2017 a National Alumni Coordinator was recruited to implement the Strategy. She is responsible to the Embassy HRD First Secretary and is located in the Aus4Skills. Aus4Skills works closely with the National Alumni Coordinator.

Australia Awards alumni are expected to benefit from networking activities created through the Vietnam Strategy’s Facebook interaction, special events, workshops and by a number of Professional Alumni Groups that are being established under the strategy.
